Schools across the District are gearing up to celebrate Veterans Day and the sacrifices our military personnel has made to ensure our nation’s freedoms. Our students, staff and schools will be participating in the following programs, celebrations, parades and events:

Thursday, November 3rd, schools around Lee County will be participating in Pride & Patriotism held at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall. Tickets can be purchased for $15.00 at The program showcases our students' patriotic thoughts and talents musically, poetically, and visually while honoring our veterans. Students will be awarded in the fields of poetry, art and drawing, digital design, and mini-documentaries.

The School District of Lee County will hold its Veterans Recognition Ceremony in the Lee County Public Education Center Atrium on November 9th at 9:00 a.m. The ceremony will include the Presentation of Colors, singing of the National Anthem, the history of Veterans Day, exhibition drill performance, and remarks by Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) William Law.

Cape Coral will be hosting the Veterans Day parade Friday, November 11th from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Join us as the community honors our American Heroes and pays tribute to those who have lost their lives and are proudly serving our country.

  • Bayshore Elementary will be celebrating Veterans Day Thursday, November 10th from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. at the flagpole.

  • Caloosa Elementary will be hosting two celebrations in honor of Veterans Day.  Thursday, November 10th at 8:30 a.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. staff and students will be honoring our nation’s military and local veterans who have served our country.  The Ida Baker color guard will present the colors. Patriotic song and student poems will be shared.  Prior to the programs, a Veteran Meet & Greet will take place along with refreshments.

  • Cape Coral High's JROTC will be leading a ceremony on November 10th at 12:30pm in the school auditorium. Part of the ceremony will be to recognize teachers or staff members’ immediate family member (e.g. spouse, son or daughter) serving or have served in any of the armed services. On Veterans’ Day, November 11th the Seahawk Cadets will proudly march in the annual downtown Cape Coral Veterans’ Day Parade.

  • Cape Elementary will be celebrating Veterans Day Thursday, November 10th from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. Students at Cape Elementary will be honoring about 40 local veterans in a school-wide ceremony.

  • Colonial Elementary will be holding a Veterans Day Ceremony on November 10th at 8:30 a.m. There will be a short explanation of the meaning of Veterans Day, a chorus performance and recognition of the Veterans in attendance.

  • G. Weaver Hipps Elementary students and staff will be recognizing our nation’s Veterans during a Veteran’s Day program at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10th.  Veterans that are family members of students and staff, as well as local veterans are invited to attend the celebration honoring the contributions made to our country by military personnel. A reception for our honored guests will immediately follow in our Media Center. 

  • Gateway Elementary will recognize our Veterans for serving our country and protecting our freedom Thursday, November 10th at 9:20 am in the Courtyard Area. Colors Presented by Dunbar High School JROTC Color guard commanded by Cadet Private Natalie Reyes and will perform an exhibition drill, musical Tribute to Veterans by Gateway Chorus with a solo performance by Ariana Siebenaler and Emily Grant, violin solo performance by Alex Cameron, and introductory and closing remarks by Chris Siebenaler – Principal.

  • Ida S. Baker students will be participating in the Veterans Day parade in Cape Coral November 11th, the Color Guard will be at Caloosa Elementary on November 10th and at Coral Trace nursing home November 9th.

  • J. Colin English Elementary will have their annual Veterans Day celebration Thursday, November 10th at 9:15 a.m. around the flagpole honoring veterans and their families. Second-grade classes will provide musical selections. There will be a short speech, the National Anthem is played during the raising of the flag and a medley of the songs representing the five military branches will be played while we recognize any veterans in our audience as well as members of our staff with military ties.

  • Lehigh Elementary Veteran’s Day celebration to include a guest speaker, performance by the schools Singing Sensations, the history of the Star Spangled Banner and the history of Veteran’s Day. They will also be honoring the current staff members who are serving or who have served in the armed forces. This is planned for Thursday, November 10 at 9:30 a.m.

  • Lehigh Senior High will be celebrating Veteran's day November 10th starting at 7:30 a.m. in the Football Stadium. The school has over a 1,000 students participating in the actual ceremony, JROTC, Band, Chorus students and more. This all-school assembly will be honoring Veterans from the community.  

  • Mirror Lakes Elementary is hosting a 2nd Grade Patriotic Program and Dinner Fundraiser for Veterans Day, Thursday, November 10th at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Dinner will be $3.00 and all funds raised will go toward the 2nd-grade field trip.

  • North Fort Myers Academy of the Arts will be celebrating Veterans Day with a breakfast on November 9th at 8:00 a.m.

  • A North Fort Myers High student will be singing the National Anthem during Pride & Patriotism, November 3rd, with 15 cadets participating. Cadets will be participating in the LCPEC Veteran’s Recognition Ceremony November 9th. On November 10th the color guard will be at Tropic Isles Elementary and 100+ cadets will be marching in the Cape Coral Veterans Day parade on November 11th.

  • Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle & Diplomat Middle proudly announces their first Veterans Day Concert to honor all who served in the armed forces. Friends & family are invited to join them for a free concert on the lawn at the Alliance for the Arts, 10091 McGregor Blvd. Fort Myers, FL 33919, Friday, November 11 at 10:00 a.m.

  • Pine Island Elementary will be honoring Veteran's Thursday, November 10th at 10:30 a.m. with a small program and lunch for current or retired Veterans.

  • Riverdale High School will be celebrating Veterans Day, Thursday, November 10 at 9:00 a.m. on the football field. The celebration will include the Riverdale chorus singing the National Anthem, the honor guard for attending Veterans, JROTC Battalion formation, the Raider band, patriotic poems read by students, and the raising of a flag that was flown on a combat mission over Iraq by a former Riverdale student/cadet. 

  • San Carlos Park Elementary will continue the long-standing tradition of honoring Veterans during a school-wide assembly at their flagpole, Thursday, November 10, at 8:00 a.m.  The event begins with a flag raising, patriotic songs and readings by the students.  Veterans are then invited to a continental breakfast in their café followed by visits to classrooms for question and answers with the students.

  • Skyline Elementary School students and staff would like to invite all veterans and active duty personnel to our Veterans Day program on November 10, 2016 at 8:15 A.M. and 9:15 A.M. Student leaders will open the program with a speech dedicated to our veterans and active duty personnel. Our show choir will be performing and our students will be singing patriotic songs and reciting poems for our veterans’ entertainment. We encourage all of our area veterans to join us on November 10, 2016. Skyline Elementary is located at 620 SW 19th Street in Cape Coral.   • Spring Creek Elementary will be celebrating Veterans Day on Thursday, November 10th at 9:15 a.m. Students and faculty will gather around the flagpole in the front of the school. Estero High School’s JROTC and led by Mr. John F. Bleiler, LTC retired, will begin the program by raising the United States Flag. Students will honor Veterans who help to make this country a safe and peaceful place to live by reading a short note and presenting them with drawings. The Star Spangled Banner will be performed by the Spring Creek Choir and America the Beautiful will be sung by all students to celebrate and remember all Veterans.

  • Tanglewood Elementary will be celebrating Veterans Day / Hoot Day, Thursday, November 10th starting at 8:00 a.m. by the flagpole. The Boy Scouts of America will be raising the flag, the Pledge of Allegiance recited, the National Anthem performed on a violin, poems, a veteran speaking and a performance by the Singing Owls Chorus.

  • The Sanibel School we will have a Veterans Day Assembly for all students (grades K- 8) on Thursday, November 10th from 8:00- 8:30 a.m. Veterans and family members have been invited to attend, so students and staff can recognize them for their service. Additionally, the school's music department will perform various patriotic songs both vocally and instrumentally.  The Sanibel School invites the Sanibel community to join them in the school cafeteria to honor our veterans!

  • Three Oaks Elementary will be having a Veteran’s Day Ceremony on Thursday, November 10th. Three Oaks Elementary will be honoring Veterans & current military men & women. The ceremony will consist of poems, songs, pipes & Drums and a bugle call.  The ceremony will take place at the P.E. pavilion from 8:10-8:55 a.m.

  • The third graders at Trafalgar Elementary will be performing skits and songs to honor our military heroes on Thursday, November 10th, at 8:30 am.  The program will include a picture tribute to our veterans and the introduction of all veterans in the audience as the children sing “God Bless the USA”.

  • Veterans Park Academy for the Arts will be honoring Veterans with a ceremony on Thursday, November 10th at 9:00 am. The ceremony is being held on the track and field. The school will feature art performances, a special veteran guest speaker,  and student essays/poems. Our local veterans will be present and parents are invited to attend the ceremony.
