Drop-Off & Dismissal Procedures

PARENT DROP-OFF, WALKERS, OR BIKE RIDERS

  • Students may arrive on the elementary side of campus at 8:15 A.M.  No supervision of students is provided prior to that time.  Any child dropped off before 8:15 A.M will be placed in the fee-based morning program and charged a daily fee of $3.00. Students may not be dropped off at Bolado until 8:15. 

  • For the safety of ALL of our students, parents must drive through the parent pick up loop during drop off times.  We have adults on the sidewalk helping to direct students into the building safely.  Please do not park and walk your child into the building.  Due to the lack of parking spaces on campus, this creates a safety hazard for you and your child.  The parking lot is reserved for parents that need to come in and speak to office personnel in the morning. 

  • Students may be dropped off at the parent drop off area by our school entrance or at the Caloosa Middle Car Ramp (grades 3-5). ESE and Pre-K have their own drop-off located down the service road just to the west of the main school entrance.
    Students arriving after 8:40 A.M. will be marked tardy.  Any tardy child will have to be walked into the school by an adult because the front doors will be locked.  Parents and/or students should press the intercom button to gain access.
     

PARENT PICK UP - Dismissal: (3:10 P.M. - 3:35 P.M.)

  • Parents/Guardians must only sign students out of school early if the student has an appointment.
  • All parent pick up cars must have the hang tag in the car with the child’s name on it.  If the car tag is not visible, the driver will be directed to the front of the car ramp and asked for an ID.  We will verify the name of the person picking up with those on the emergency card.
  • ALL PARENTS must drive through the car line to pick up their child(ren).  The car ramp loop is one direction only and all students must be dropped off and picked up via the car ramp loop only.
Caloosa Elementary has 3 Car Ramp Areas.  If a family has students in multiple grade levels, they can choose which ramp to use. This must be communicated with the classroom teacher so they know where to send the student at dismissal. Locations of the car ramps are as follows: 
  • Front of Elementary School (SE 6th St) - Kindergarten through 2nd grade
  • Middle School car ramp (Entrance @ Del Prado & Bolado) - Grades 3-5
  • Service Road - only for Pre-K and ESE students (siblings of Pre-K/ESE may also be dropped off and picked up at this location)
  • Please stay in the car during parent pick up time.  Anyone who parks and walks up to the car ramp will be asked to return to their car and get back in the line.  There is no waiting for children in the office, foyer, or car ramp.  We are very strict about this because we want to guarantee every child’s safety. Safety comes first! 
  • Please do not get out of the car to open doors for your child or buckle car seats.  If a child needs to be buckled into a car seat, please pull forward into the side parking spaces out of the flow of traffic.  
  • Dismissal begins at 3:10 P.M. Any child picked up after 3:35 P.M. is considered a late pick-up and will be charged the same fee as students in the after-school program.  
  • Do not park in the handicapped spaces unless you have a handicapped sticker.

PRE-K/SPECIAL NEEDS CAR RAMP 

  • Pre-K and ESE parents will use the service road located to the west of the main school entrance.
  • Parents must stay in their cars.  An employee will bring the students to the cars.
  • If a student has a sibling at Caloosa, then he/she may be dropped off and picked up at the same location so that parents do not have to pick up in two places.
  • Pre-K and ESE students will be dismissed at the same time as the rest of the students.
  • Tags must be displayed in the car when picking up.
  • Do not park in the handicapped spaces unless you have a handicapped sticker.

RAINY DAY AND INCLEMENT WEATHER DROP OFF/ PICK UP

If there is lightning within 10 miles of the school or there are torrential rains during drop off or dismissal, we will do the following: 

  • If lightning is within a few miles during drop off, school personnel will not be outside until it is safe.
  • Dismissal may be delayed if the lightning is in close proximity
  • If inclement weather occurs during dismissal, all walkers and bike riders will be held in the foyer until you pick them up or the weather subsides.
  • All PK-Gr.2 students will be held in the foyer and called by intercom one by one.  The child will come outside once their name is called.
  • All Gr. 3-5 students will be held in the cafeteria until it is safe for them to walk over to the middle school
